Application Process

Spiritual Expectations of Parents:
1. Making the Glory of God the Highest Goal of Life
2. Seeking to be Perfect as our Heavenly Father is Perfect
3. Living in a State of Grace and being in Good Standing with the Catholic Church
4. Attending Mass every Sunday and on Holy Days of Obligation
5. Regular Examination (weekly) and Regular Confession (monthly)
6. Daily Mental Prayer (15 minutes/day)
7. Living a Life of Sacrifice, Good Works, and Generosity
8. Ongoing Formation and Spiritual Direction
9. Making your Home a Domestic Church

Community Expectations of Parents:
1. Be a Teacher’s Aide (rotation)
2. Avoid Frequent Absences
3. Prepare Students for History Rhymes and Projects

Homeschooling Responsibilities:

In order to be a part of the Homeschool Discipleship Academy (HDA) a family must be legally homeschooling their children in accordance with the laws of WA state. The HDA is a supplemental help for parents who want to bring a community aspect to their homeschooling and would like their children to have exposure to a culture deeply invested in growing in holiness. The parents are still the primary teacher of their students in all subjects and are responsible for safeguarding the education of their own children.

Safe Environment:

The Homeschool Discipleship Academy requires all teachers, parents, and volunteers to go through safe environment training with the Archdiocese of Seattle and to stay current on their training from year to year.

Getting Ready

Dress Code:

Clothing must fit properly, be clean, and in good repair.

● Boys: navy trousers/slacks

● Girls: navy knee-length or longer skirt or dress. Leggings or tights are optional, must be black.

● Shirts: tucked solid white polo or dress shirt, or navy sweater. Navy vests or cardigans may also be worn with these. No printed tee shirts may be visible under uniforms.

● Shoes: black closed shoes and black socks

Curriculum and Book List

● Part of these programs will be done communally:
○ I would like everyone to participate in the history rhymes every week. No other
history material is required for the academy, but if you do choose to use these
programs more fully, then what you do in depth at home will match up nicely with
what we do in class.
○ All students will present after each history unit. I will give the students some
options based on the material we cover.
○ Science experiments are done together as a class and students record them in the student workbooks linked to below. However, if a student is not using the student workbooks, they can do their lab reports on a separate sheet of paper or in a notebook.

Younger Students (Elementary School)

History:

Parent Help

Teacher’s Aide:

On a rotating basis parents will help out at the academy. Some weeks they will be in the classroom and on other weeks they will assist in the nursery.

Nursery:

Teachers and teacher’s aides may leave their young ones (0-4 years old) in the nursery during the academy day.
